Important announcements to make before we get started. First, Alex just got a full knee replacement. Second, for the 1st time since 1/19/09, the returning champ (in this case, 2-day champ Claudia Corriere) WON'T be able to defend their title (because she has a musical gig), meaning we will crown an interim titleholder this evening using these people (she'll be back sometime next yr.):

Shoshana Gordon Ginsburg (D.C.): Children's librarian
Jay O'Brien (Waterford, NY): Physics instructor
Liz Quesnelle (PIT): Retail store owner (who's wearing nail polish themed about this show)

The Zimmermann Note encouraged this nation to ally w/ Germany, which promised to let it annex lost land in the U.S.

"Uh, what is Mexico?"...si. Found in the $2K Colorful U.S. City is Shoshana's own, having a 2nd-place six grand, one more than Jay. The female challenger tries to get to $10K.

This AL college town's name was inspired by a line from Oliver Goldsmith's poem "The Deserted Village".

"What is Auburn?"...absolutely correct. The BoT sound on the $400 Double F Word & the $400/$800 Colorful U.S. Cities.

ALEVE FJ! C #71:PUBLISHING (might be up Shoshana's alley)

In 1927, the publishers of the Modern Library widened its scope & took this name, meant as a joke about how it would select titles.

J: "What is Random House?" = $7,599
S: SHE AGREED, UNSURPRISINGLY (3/4) = $17.5K
L: SWEEP = $20,001
